The CARPLS Municipal Court Advice Desk (MCAD) launched its virtual Help Desk on October 18, 2021 in response to the COVID 19 pandemic when many, if not most, Cook County Municipal Court cases began to be heard virtually on Zoom. MCAD’s goal was to duplicate the in-person help desk experience virtually on Zoom and to “meet” our clients on a platform with which they were familiar, Zoom.
In its first year since “going virtual,” MCAD has increased the number of legal consultations it provides by over 200% (201.95% to be exact). We can attribute the increased services to many factors including the end of the eviction and consumer debt collections moratoriums, but more significantly, to the hard work and determination CARPLS and its staff have to serving those most in need.
